What boom truck work costs in Canada

Published hourly rates, operated or bare, with their editions, and what drives the price of buying a truck. Every figure links to its source.

Published boom truck rates in Canada come from government rental schedules and road-builder association guides. The first thing that separates them is whether the operator is included. New Brunswick's 2026 schedule lists a boom truck of 7,000 to 11,000 kg lift capacity at $166.25 an hour, operator not included1. Ontario's April 2024 schedule lists a 7,000 kg boom truck at $135.25 an hour, also bare2. Prince Edward Island pays $97.89 an hour for a single-axle boom truck with the operator included3.

These are benchmarks for public works, not quotes. Rental prices in general have moved up: Statistics Canada's rental price index for construction, transportation, mining and forestry equipment stood at 118.6 in the second quarter of 2026 against 115.5 a year earlier (2020 = 100), about 2.7% higher, computed from the two figures4.
